Received the Beta update 88 on 04/06/2021. Since them when I attempt to send an email with earthlink account I no longer get the popup box to enter my password. The sending email just stays on the screen and email does not get sent.

I worked with earthling for an hour and they say all of the settings are correct for their service and could not find a problem.

I still get the password popup box for hotmail account. I attached picture from the thunderbird trouble shooting print out showing the account info and screen shots for the earthlink and hotmail screens with sending an email. Earthlink is my main account, Not sure what to do now.

Chosen solution

I've checked through bugs and there does seem to be something going on with the 'send'.

There is much work going on to fix this, but in the meantime you can switch off this new sending mechanism.

REgarding version 88 - beta release notes: https://www-stage.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/88.0beta/releasenotes/

TB changed the sending pipeline completely in TB 88. Resulting problems are investigated in bug 1702360. Check the release notes to find out how to revert to the "old" sending pipeline: https://www-stage.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/88.0beta/releasenotes/ The old behavior can be restored by setting the preferences "mailnews.send.jsmodule" and "mailnews.smtp.jsmodule" to false.

  • Menu app icon > Options > General
  • Scroll to bottom (or type: Config Editor into the 'Find in Options' top right search)
  • click on 'Config Editor'
  • Then you can search for: jsmodule
  • It should show you the two preferences: "mailnews.send.jsmodule" and "mailnews.smtp.jsmodule"
  • Double click on each line to toggle the preference from True to False
  • Close the config window
  • Restart Thunderbird.

Also I am able to receive email with earthlink as the password box does display there still.
