Problem transfering Address Book into Thunderbird v.91

I have been using a Thunderbird Portable v.45 for a few years. In the old app, i export Address Book as a .ldif file -- export process seems to be done OK. Importing this file into the new Thunderbird as an address book makes a mess: - some contacts are lost, and some contact groups as well. Many times tried, the result is always the same.

(Win7 64bit.)

Any help welcome. :-)

Does this old one use the abook.mab format? If so, the current TB can import directly from that. Much simpler than any other option.

Thanks David.

Inside TB, i import from 'abook.mab' file -- found in dir 'Data/profile/abook.mab'. I get 68 contacts only, and that is all. The specific address_book, working perfectly in the old TB, has ~1400 contacts and ~60 contact_groups.

David, initiated by your idea (did not know about the mab file), I solved the problem in a strange way, soon i will post!

The solution to my problem:

In dir 'Data/profile' i found a file 'abook.mab', which i initially used for the import, but only a few contacts where inside there.

Inside the same dir, i noticed 5 .mab files: 'abook.mab', 'history.mab', 'impab.mab', 'impab-1.mab', 'impab-2.mab'. I checked their size and modification date. 'impab' was the biggest and latest (today). I used that one for the import. Problem solved!

All contacts and groups imported. And still, one contact was 2 times inside a group, and it was imported only once (i noticed minus 1 contact in the statusbar index of total contacts, so i checked).
