I don't like version 7. How can I go back to version 6?

Chosen solution

To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.

You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.

To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

According to your user agent string you are using Firefox 4.

Versions 6 and 7 are development versions, are you sure that you are using version 7?

How do I tell? I was under the impression that I was using 6, and rcvd a notice that made me think that I needed to switch to 7, which I do not care for. One of the programs that I regularly use will not work with the version of Firefox that I now have.

If you have version 7 it will not call itself Firefox, it will call itself Nightly, and version 6 calls itself Aurora.

To find out the version, in the Help menu select "About Mozilla Firefox", or it may be listed as "About Nightly" or "About Aurora"

If your user agent string is correct you are using the original version of Firefox 4

OK. I was obviously confused on the version numbers. It is apparently the newest version of Firefox 4 that I want to replace. There were numerous things I liked better about the previous version, and this one will not work with my RoboForm 6, which I have used for years and like very much. Here is a cut/paste from a Roboform tech:

"Unfortunately RoboForm 6 does not work with Firefox 4 Final Release which contained significant changes over the previous official release."

So can you tell me how to get back to the previous version of Firefox?

Thanks,

Bill

Thank you Tony. I think I got it. Roboform is working again, and I like the older Firefox better. No more upgrades for me.
