I have used Firefox exclusively until now for more years than I can count. With each update add-ons that I have no choice in using (Java, Microsoft .Net) are disabled due to incompatibility.

Even a security choice such as McAfee Site Advisor is unusable. New features don't work (pin as app tab - How many times do I have to pin before it actually works?), and increasingly Firefox cannot find websites. I am being forced to use IE8 more and more, and friends are telling me I should look into Chrome. I have visited the help pages more in the last month than I ever have had to, and it has been quite distressing to find so many others with the same problems. What's the point of upgrading for improved security if the only resolution to the problem is to revert to previous versions that worked but were less secure. I have used Firefox because it was considered more secure that IE. Have I been wrong all these years? I LOVE FIREFOX!!!! PLEASE FIX THIS!!!

I resorted to this because feedback did not work for happy, sad or suggestion. Quite frankly, the process was so frustrating in trying to find a way to contact Mozilla about this that I am going to investigate Chrome while I am waiting for this situation to improve. As it is I now cannot use Firefox to access some financial sites or Rhapsody. The list keeps growing of times when I am in the middle of something and am forced to log into IE8 to use a website.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile:

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)
