Hi, on the home page just under the google search bar in the middle of the page I keep getting the message that I am not running the latest version of Firefox and not getting the most from the web. When I click the link it takes me to the advert for the Android version and the latest version of Firefox. I have the latest version and just in case I downloaded it again, and yet, I still get this little message saying I dont have the latest version. Its not a problem for me but I just wondered why my computer is not picking up that I have the latest version. I also have the computer set so that it takes all upgrades to the software. This - http://www.google.com/firefox - is the old Firefox Start Page used by the Firefox 3.6 and earlier versions of Firefox, I don't think it is being maintained.

Starting with the Firefox 4 version, Firefox is using a "local" Start Page with the address of about:home. It looks similar to the old Start Page, but it isn't exactly the same.

Thanks for your reply, however, I know that my browser is detecting correctly and I am running the latest version, but, what I am questioning is, why do I still get this message below the Google search bar in the middle of the screen? Cheers,

You're not on the latest version of Firefox. Upgrade today to get the best of the Web!

Is it the about:home page?

Yes the home page.

Please try deleting the updates.xml file in the Firefox installation root folder.

Sorry but I am not sufficiently technically minded to find the Firefox installation root folder. Maybe I should just forget about it and leave things as they are? Everything works so, as they say, don't fix it!!!

Thank you for your reply. It makes sense. Thanks again to both you and Vivek.Wilfred for answering my question.
