Yesterday my 8 most visited websites would show up in boxes while in firefox. Now I only get 4 of my most visited sites.

How can I change back to 8 and also how can I choose which ones are in those boxes?

Thanks

You can change the order of the boxes on the about:newtab page and drag an item to a different tile to pin it to that position or you can remove a website by clicking the close X to block that URL.

You can drag a bookmark or history item from the sidebar and drop it in a tile on the about:newtab page to pin this item and have your own favorites sites showing.

Changes made manually on the about:newtab page are stored in prefs that you can find on the about:config page.

  • browser.newtabpage.pinned stores websites that you have pinned to a tile.
  • browser.newtabpage.blocked stores websites that you have removed by clicking the X button in a tile.

You can reset these prefs via the right-click context menu to the default value to undo these choices.

You can zoom out the about:newtab page to resize the tiles and have more tiles fit on the page.

  • View > Zoom > Zoom Out; Ctrl and -
"Zoom Text Only" shouldn't have a tick

This will affect all elements on the page, so text get smaller as well. Make sure that only one tab with the about:newtab page is open when you change the page zoom.

Toggle the browser.newtab.preload pref to false on the about:config page in case of issues with remembering the page zoom of the about:newtab page.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
