How can I reverse update and return to earlier version
Today is November 14th and I allowed The download of the promised new and improved Firefox. I HATE IT ALREADY. I have lost 75% of my add-ons. I have lost the extra toolbars where just one extra positionable toolbar would help. There is hardly any options in customizing. I checked the help section where it was suggested it wasn't safe to go back so is it just a case of wait and see if the older add-ons are updated or what. It has been rendered impossible for me to use this for everyday use and I did prefer Firefox over everybody else.

Hi dexrek, I know it's hard to deal with disruptive changes. Only you can decide which is the right decision for your needs. You didn't mention any particular extensions that are essential to your use of Firefox, but if there are some you cannot live without, and you aren't able to find replacements -- feel free to ask, you don't need to search for everything yourself -- then you may need to use an older version of Firefox for the time being.
Session Manager and Tree Style tab. My saved session can run a couple hundred tabs and Tree Style is required to manage it.
Seriously, Firefox has ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA how time consuming and disruptive this ridiculous excuse of an upgrade has been!
P.S. The ESR version does not support Session Manager so it is necessary that I use version 56.

Hi Major-Screwed, that question was not for you, you have posted in two new question and two other threads. I appreciate that you are suffering, but so are support volunteers trying to keep up with everyone's issues and quadruplicating your complaints is not helping. Please read my reply over here: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1187308

I do want to use Session Manager after installing ESR too. I think you can try to uninstall your session manger then install older version Version 0.8.1.12 Released March 17, 2016 526.6 KiB Works with Firefox 38.0 - 52.* https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/session-manager/versions/
Try Version 0.8.1.12 or other older version to see if it works.

Thank you everyone.
I have uninstalled Firefox 57 (Quantum) and installed Firefox ESR but some addons e.g "session manger' do not work in ESR, so I uninstalled ESR and installed 56.0.2 and it works.
These are the steps I did in my Windows 10 to revert to older version. 1 In the address bar type about:preferences#general then press <enter>, then at the 'Allow Firefox to' heading select this [Never check for updates]. Unselect [Use a background service to install updates]. 2 (optional, just in case something goes wrong) Backup profile folder by following the [Backing up your profile] section steps at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles 3 In windows 'add or remove programs', uninstall Mozilla Firefox 4 Download 56.0.2 from https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/56.0.2/ (or other older versions from https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/ ) 5 Disconnect from the internet (unplug ethernet cable) 6 Install 56.0.2 7 Open Firefox 56.0.2 and do this step. In the address bar type about:preferences#general then press <enter>, then at the 'Allow Firefox to' heading select this [Never check for updates]. Unselect [Use a background service to install updates]. 8 If bookmarks does not appear, follow the restore steps here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/restore-bookmarks-from-backup-or-move-them 9 Connect to internet. 10 Done, everything should be working fine now.
Update info: I reinstalled 52.5.0 ESR again and session manager 0.8.1.13 addon is working in 52.5.0 ESR.
