Whenever I try to download anything it will start and just stop no matter what I try to download. There are no pop up windows or errors that come up, it just stops. Could it be some setting I have not set? My previous computer died and just got this one and am trying to download everything the other one had and it's not working. I'm not sure if I need to download something or just adjust a setting. Thanks for your time and any information.

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox. You can try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work. Do not forget to re-enable the scanning in your anti-virus software after you are finished with downloading and installing.
