How to open multiple profiles in Firefox?

more options

After following the directions to the letter, I cannot open more than one profile in Firefox. Even after un-checking the don't ask box, after creating the profile. When I click on the "start Firefox" button it opens to which ever profile was highlighted at the time. When I click on the icon on my desktop, it opens the same profile and there is no option to pick which profile I would like to open. I can only open one profile at a time. When I enter the profile manager it also opens the same profile. Can anyone assist me in this?

To have multiple profiles open at the same time you need to use the -no-remote switch appended to the command line. Otherwise you only open a new window in the already opened Firefox instance.

Do not use the -no-remote command for your Default Profile if you have Firefox set as your Default Browser, that will cause problems with Firefox not opening links from external programs like an email client.
