Why does selecting a link on an App Tab causes that link to open in the App Tab and not a new tab?

What setting do I need to tweak so that selecting a link in an App Tab opens that link in a new tab? Previously this worked as it should but now the selected link opens right in my App Tab.

App Tabs are not protected against changes, so you need to middle-click a link if you want to open the link in a new tab, just like you would do in a normal tab.

The info on the What Are App Tabs? page says exactly the opposite though. I'm definitely having this problem too. Is anyone aware of a way of restoring the advertised behavior? (links from App-Tabs are opened in new tabs)

From linked page:

  • Links to other websites open in a new tab so that your App Tab doesn't change.
  • Many web apps, like Facebook, already do this but an App Tab will make this happen even when the website isn't set to do it.

Actually I solved my own problem....I use the Tab Utilities Add-on and adjust the settings so that my App Tabs stay put. You can play with the settings to get just the right amount of "new tab" openings.

Similar problem. Sometimes, links in an app tab open a new, exact duplicate (protected, locked) app tab which has to be unlocked, unprotected and unpinned in order to close it. This behavior is erratic, inconsistent.

It would be nice to see some explanation of the various right-click app tab options. What is protected as opposed to locked?
