Hello- I am new to Firefox. I have it set to update automatically. I noticed it was updating to the latest version today, so I stayed and watched. I had version 3.5.2 (I am pretty sure) but the latest version it just updated to is version 17. Is this right? I am used to version going in order but from version 3.5.2 to 17? did something go wrong?

Yes, Firefox 17.0 is the current release. Firefox 17.0.1 will be released later today on Friday to fix some errors and regressions, so you can keep an eye on that.

Now your using Firefox 3.5.2 if you update,
Firsts it update to Firefox 4 and keeps going on and finally update firefox 17.

To avoid that, Download and Install it.

No I already updated. I had version 3.5.2 before the update. I checked the version before. After the update it now says version 17. so I now have version 17. it seems odd to go from version 3.5.2 to version 17. is this the correct version I should have? Does Firefox go from version 3.5.2 to version 17?????

The links you are sending me to I have already read those. For example the one you put in your reply does not answer my question or I would not have posted it.

I thought that was strange to go from version 3.5.2 to 17. Usually versions go in some kind of order so I thought I was getting maybe the version for the smartphone.

I am curious why I had version 3.5.2 on my desktop (Mac OS X) of Firefox yesterday until it downloaded version 17 and today version 17.0.1. Is there no order in the versions of Firefox? iamjay (above) I think gave me an answer, but I really do not understand what he means. If somebody could explain to me I would appreciate it. Thanks!

I am allowing the correct version (17.0.1) to install on my MacBook I hope.

The Firefox 3.5 versions are from 2009, you missed a whole bunch of later versions or you installed that old version in error, with automatic updating not enabled.

no automatic update is enabled. I just checked it and it is the top one that is checked. it updated to 17 and today to 17.0.1 by itself.

o man, I have just had Firefox for about a month. I did what somebody told me to do at apple.com in the forum. went to the firefox website and downloaded the dmg file. I remember I did have a hard time with the update, but with automatic updates checked I wonder why it did not update it. I did see about 2 weeks ago it automatically update to another version, but I never checked since it has been doing it automatically. Strange.
