How do you save a bookmark to a folder in one step?

I've been using Firefox for years and just upgraded to the latest version. I already have a bunch of bookmark folders created.

My first problem was when I selected "Choose" to scroll through my folders and pick the one I wanted to save the page to, it instead took me to the Unsorted Bookmarks folder. The only other options in that window were Bookmarks Toolbar and Bookmarks Menu, and none of the three take me to a list of my bookmark folders when I click on them.

After playing around with it, now it doesn't even give me that choice when I click the icon on the Bookmarks toolbar, it just saves the page to Unsorted Bookmarks automatically.

I know that I can go in and organize the bookmarks after the fact but it seems a bit ridiculous to have to first save it to a placeholder location. I didn't find this addressed in the Bookmarks FAQs, so I'm hoping someone can 'splain to me how to fix this.

BTW, I'm running Firefox on Windows XP, but have the same problem on a PC running Windows 8.

Thanks much, will give it a try but so far it looks like exactly what I needed.
