Why streaming audio has stopped working this morning from a specific website. Works with other browsers
Good morning, I listen to live audio from http://wmmr.com/shows/preston-and-steve/ every morning This morning it did not play audio even though it appears to be coming into my PC, (see attached) there is no sound Every other link from the website works fine, youtube.com works fine, windows sounds work fine. Just this live stream stopped playing audio through FireFox. Works fine in other browsers (IE, Chrome, etc). Please help
Thank you
Best regards,
Frankie V.

Two things I can think of that you could try :
Options => Add-ons => Plugins => Shockwave Flash : Set it to 'Never activate' and see if that will make a difference.
(Edit : removed the dumb remark about installing the VLC Media Player)

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration in Firefox. Since this feature was added to Firefox it has gradually improved but there are still a few glitches.
You will need to restart Firefox for this to take effect so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.,) and then perform these steps:
In Firefox 54 and below:
- Click the menu button and select Options (Windows) or Preferences (Mac, Linux).
- Select the Advanced panel and the General tab.
- Uncheck Use hardware acceleration when available.
- Close Firefox completely and then restart Firefox to see if the problem persists.
In Firefox 55 and above:
- Click the menu button and select Options (Windows) or Preferences (Mac, Linux).
- Select the General panel.
- Under Performance, uncheck Use recommended performance settings. Additional settings will be displayed.
- Uncheck Use hardware acceleration when available.
- Close Firefox completely and then restart Firefox to see if the problem persists.

At the bottom of http://wmmr.com/help/ there is the section : 'How to get tech help' ....... You're not going to give up on the best browser on the planet that easily, are you ?
I did email their tech support about a half hour ago...waiting for a response I don't wanna give up FF...been using it for over 10 years now
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
Ha...now it works in safe mode It did not before
Have you disabled Hardware Acceleration?
It could be the work of one of your add-ons. Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> A)
In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Disable a few add-ons, then Restart Firefox.
Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All Of them.
If the problem continues, disable some more (restarting FF). Continue until the problem is gone. After, you know what group is causing the issue. Re-enable the last group ONE AT A TIME (restarting FF) until the problem returns.
Once you think you found the problem, disable that and re-enable all the others, then restart again. Let us know who the suspect is, detective.
yes, I did that when I tried it the first time
Have started having the same issue in the last few weeks, they work when I use MS Edge. Fix it on YOUR end.
@ FrankieFatgoose :
Would you disable your extension 'Package 4.0.16' and see if that will make a difference ?
Do not see that listed on my Extensions page.

It's on the OP's system details - hence I asked him .......
Have no idea where to look for that, I am not a coder. If several people have brought this to Mozilla's attention, maybe they need to rethink something that worked that they have broken.
Also tried the suggestion above 'Uncheck Use hardware acceleration when available.' and removed old legacy extenstions. Still no change. Thanks for trying to help but I think the IT coders at Mozilla need to address this.
Good morning, Thank you all for your suggestions. I haven't had time to continue troubleshooting (mad crazy busy) and I have just been firing up FF in safe mode every day. Also, I am running this browser "as is" from download and have not added any extensions. So I am not sure about Package 4.0.16 and where to find it / disable it.

When you click on 'More System Details' at the right side of your original question, that's where it shows under 'Extensions'.
Go to the 3-bar menu (or 'Tools') => Add-ons => Extensions and disable it please.
Stab in the dark : Could it be that you're enrolled in a Mozilla experiment, called 'Shield Studies' ? You can check to see if you are by typing in the address bar : about:studies and press Enter.
See : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/shield
I doubt if this has anything to do with your current problem though, but one never knows ......
Hello all, Ok....found where extensions are listed (Menu on top right of page under add-ons) and page is blank. Says I have no add-ons or extensions
