Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

• Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

In the link you have sent me it is written:

key3.db - This file stores your key database for your passwords. To transfer saved passwords, you must copy this file along with the following file. logins.json - Saved passwords

I have found the "key3.db" and the "logins.json - Saved passwords"' in the Old Fire Fox data file.

My question now is: How do I do to copy the files and where do I paste them?

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:

Close Firefox. Open a file browser to the old folder. Now open another to the current folder. Copy these files: key3.db - logins.json - signons.sqlite

Start Firefox. Are the passwords back? If not:

Close Firefox. Firefox 32 and later builds store the passwords in the logins.json file in the profile folder and no longer use the key3.db and signons.sqlite files. You can force Firefox to reimport the passwords from the signons.sqlite file.

• reset the signon.importedFromSqlite pref on the about:config page to the default value via the right-click context menu
• delete the logins.json file in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed

When you restart Firefox then you should have the signon.importedFromSqlite pref with the value set to true and you should have the passwords imported in the Password Manager unless there may have been errors.

I'm not very in to the function of computers so I'm afraid I need to ask you how do I do to "open another to the current folder"

Where do I find the current folder and what is its name?

Type about:support in the address bar and press enter.

Under the page logo on the left side you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To it’s right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Now follow the instructions from my last post.

Copy those files from the old folder to the new. If you are asked, allow the files to over-right the current files.

I have copied the old files to the new folder. And I have restarted the laptop but the passwords are still missing.

In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backup of files that you choose.

Would it not be a good idea to have a function in the "Saved passwords folder" that make it possible to choose for example: "copy all" or "print all", that copy both the url name and the corresponding passwords. That would make it easier to save the passwords in an other place, on the computer or in physical form.

(I have circa 25 passwords so it is a bit tricky to save one by one)
