How can version 98.0 be very outdated ??
I have been having problems accessing part of a membership site. Can't get past the first step, it doesn't work for me.
Kubuntu 20.04.4 LTS Release: 20.04 Codename: focal Firefox Version 98.0 (64 bit)
Have been informed from the website owner that the IT person has tested this with Explorer, Safari and Chrome, and all work. The IT support person then goes on to state - "....... that the client needs to use a different browser as Firefox is very outdated."
So, I was using the latest version and it is "very outdated" ???
How can I respond ? Is there a training course for the IT person to deepen their skill level ?

Just for kicks... I would get a usb drive and run a live stick of a rolling distro to see if it works. I'm running Tumbleweed and some of packages are ahead of yours. https://get.opensuse.org/tumbleweed/#download
Thanks "jonzn4SUSE". I created that boot usb of Tumbleweed, and booted up today. Used Firefox (it was vers 98.0 on Tumbleweed), and exactly the same problem again, no video shown.
I even installed Chrome and Opera on Kubuntu, same bug/problem. So I have to say it is NOT Firefox, but the site for some reason, won't show the video.
Thanks for your help. :)
PS I liked the openSUSE look/feel, it booted up fast. I may consider adding it in as a KVM or Virtual box on the same HDD as Kubuntu. Then I can try the different apps I use.

What site? Post a pic showing the issue. Try downloading another copy of Firefox, run it from the folder and see if you have the same issue. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release

Thanks - It is a membership site, and only by logging in can the problem be replicated. I'm already running the latest Firefox - 98.0.1 - Firefox for Ubuntu.
I assume running the Browser console may indicate what the exact problem is. The first part is to play a video - it doesn't appear. It seems to be a common problem - https://duckduckgo.com/?q=can%27t+play+video+in+firefox&t=newext&atb=v276-1&ia=web
I'll try this for starters - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1340818

The site is a closed membership site. It requires login access to replicate the problem. I'm already on Firefox 98.0.1 . It has been tested with 98.0 and 98.0.1 and probably versions prior to that.
Will running the browser console help to identify the cause ? I see it is a common problem - https://duckduckgo.com/?q=can%27t+play+video+in+firefox&t=newext&atb=v276-1&ia=web
I'll try the solution at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1340818 , and see if that helps.
You're running Firefox from your distro, try running Mozilla version. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release

Thanks "" . I assume after downloading, I have to do the install as shown at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-linux#w_install-firefox-from-mozilla-builds-for-advanced-users
I'll try that in the next few days.
There is no install. Just download, unzip, and run.

I did try that, however it seemed to be running my standard version of Firefox as it was showing the bookmarks ??
Is there a method to tell me if the Firefox I'm running is from the distro or from that download ? They are both 98.0.1
I guess the 'Help' | 'About Firefox' will show

So I was able to run that downloaded version, and the problem still exists. meaning the video to watch doesn't appear. Thanks for your help though "jonzn4SUSE" :)
Does your Firefox have support for MPEG-encoded video? I have a copy of YouTube's old HTML5 test page to check whether Firefox is stating that it can:
https://www.jeffersonscher.com/sumo/html5-video.html
If MPEG-encoded video is not supported, the usual reason is that Firefox cannot find the FFmpeg package components it needs for that.
(Just to clarify, that would be the usual reason on Linux, not other OSes.)

The test from the link you have supplied produced exactly the same results with the Firefox/downloaded and the Canonical/distro version.
Make sure you have the latest FFmpeg and libavcodec packages installed.

Thanks jonzn4SUSE - I started to look at the package versions I have now with Kubuntu 20.04.4 and compared them with the latest openSUSE, and the openSUSE was usually quite a few versions infront/ahead of Kubuntu. So, I might be doing some testing of openSUSE in a VM on the Kubuntu box.
With that "one-click" link - will that help/enhance the possibility of openSUSE/Firefox being able to view the video I wonder ??
