Firefox keeps logging me out of sites randomly

For the past several weeks Firefox has been logging me out of sites that should have my login details saved. As soon as I start typing my user name it pulls up my saved password and all is good. Usually I would stay logged in at said site/forum while I was there but today I can change pages and be logged out all of a sudden.

I have started in safe mode and ran malwarebytes and mse with no bugs found so it is a problem directly related to Mozilla. This is very annoying and time consuming having to keep logging in all the time for locations that should already have my information saved.

Hi

Log in details are stored in cookies. Have you changed any settings or cleared the "Site Preferences" and the "Cookies" in Firefox? https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Clear+Recent+History

That didn't work. I selected every box under details also. It also didn't remove my stored passwords. When I start typing in my user name it automatically fills in the password once I select my name.

If clearing cookies didn't help then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies got corrupted.

  • Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookies files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox profile folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

You can inspect and manage the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab via these steps:

  • Click the "Site Identity Button" (globe/padlock) on the location/address bar
  • Click "More Information" to open "Tools > Page Info" with the Security tab selected
  • Go to the Permissions tab (Tools > Page Info > Permissions) to check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Deleting the cookies files after finally finding them did the trick it seems. So far I'm not having to relogin everywhere once I'm logged in.

Some sites have the option to stay logged in. Some sites log you out after X minutes of inactivity.

Well it appears I still have the problem with it dumping the fact I'm logged in. It just doesn't happen as frequent. Still does it during a browser session. Say I'm at X forum then go to a, b, c, d, e then back to x I'll be logged in still. Then I'll go to say e, d, a and back to x and I'm logged out again. It's very random and was never a problem before.

Sigh.... anyone with information on how to completely remove FF so I can reinstall it from fresh?
