When I close a tab, it doesn't automatically default to the previous tab like usual. How do I fix this?

If I open multiple tabs, until the past few weeks, when I closed the tab I'm on, it would automatically jump back to the previous tab. Now, if I close a tab, it sits in limbo, and I have to manually click on one of the prior tabs. I have no idea why this change occurred. Any ideas?

hello, can you try to replicate this behaviour when you launch firefox in safe mode once? if not, maybe an addon is interfering here...

I relaunched in safe mode, and it seemed to work fine. But. If I open a browser, then open another browser, the problem seems confined to the first browser. Odd, right? I've tested that multiple times, opened 10+ tabs, closed them in random orders, and they always jump to another tab. Literally nothing has changed on my browser, so I'm have no idea why the behavior is happening.
