Can I change what is displayed in the Date column?

I recently started using Thunderbird, and am confused by something. When I make use of the Threaded view the value in the "Date" column for a collapsed thread is always the date/time of the first message in the thread. Is there any way to have this display the date/time of the most recent message instead, similar to Gmail?

That addon doesn't do what I asked about. It changes the message viewing pane so that conversations are grouped similar to Gmail (Which is nice, and I will probably start using it, so thank you), but the Date column still displays the date of the original message in the conversation. In the attached image, the column is sorted by date but notice that the dates are out of order. This seems to be because it is sorting by the date of the most recent message, but displaying the date of the first message. I would like the date that it is sorting by to be displayed.
