Why does Firefox for Android always keeps one tab open? Is there a way to prevent this?

It's annoying to open a link from an app, and there's always one unused tab (about:home) in the background.

The unused tab is your home or main default tab. The tab is used to store one main session of the Firefox and has to always be there regardless since that is how they designed it.

If you do any kind of search, you close the application and reopen it, and it will have the last tab open, unfortunately there also isn't a way to remove it. Good luck!

Thank you for your reply. If it's by design, I'd say it's poor design... :(
