Extension Overriding User Preferences
I've installed an extension called FVD Speed Dial. It works as it is supposed to do, i.e. opening a custom new tab page. The problem is it overrides my default firefox start page, the about:home. If I set up a new start page, with an actual URL in the browser settings the extension does not redirect me to their custom new tab when I start the browser, but the about:home does not have a URL to prevent this. Don't know if it's okay to ask for this kind of assistance here or not. If it's not, let me know & I'll try to delete the post.
Thanks in advance for your time and patience.

Hi,
Absolutely no need to delete your post !
Maybe you'd like to contact Nimbus Web via their support email, which you will find under 'More Information' :

A complete stab in te dark, but could this add-on be something you'd like to give a try :

Thank you. I'll give your suggestions a try.

Keep us posted, will you ?
(But take all the time you need - no rush !)
Try to toggle this pref on the about:config page.
- browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.aboutHome.enabled = false
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.

Sorry, this didn't help. Neither setting it to true, nor false. Not even restarting the browser after setting it up.

Your idea of overriding the extension's override with another addon was clever, but sadly it didn't work. As I restarted the browser, FVD Speed Dial replaced my about:home start page with its custom new tab again.

Bummer !
But how about my first suggestion ?

I'm working on that, although we've come to something of an impasse with the tech support guy. It seems both of us aren't native american speakers & he doesn't understand what i'm trying to say.
