One the program last updated, the "Send Link" feature under "file" and elsewhere no longer works.

I am running the latest version of Outlook Express and have no other system or program problems but this one.

Check the Mailto setting in Tools > Options > Applications

See "File handling in Firefox 3 and SeaMonkey 2": http://kb.mozillazine.org/File_types_and_download_actions

I'm working in a Mac OS 10.6.8 environment and the applications option is set to MacMail. So all those basic requirements are met. And still neither the sent link nor the emailto: operations have worked since I upgraded to Firefox 5.

You can look at the network.protocol-handler.external.mailto prefs on the about:config page.

If network.protocol-handler.external.mailto prefs are user set (bold) then right-click and Reset them to the default value.

To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.

  • Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
  • Preferences that have been modified show as bold(user set).
  • Preferences can be reset to the default or changed via the right-click context menu.
