An update is avaiable, but when I click it, it searches for update server forever.
A window keeps popping up, saying an update to Firefox is available, but every time I click it, a bar comes up saying, "connecting to the update server," and it keeps searching forever. Then at times I get a window which says a new version of Firefox is available, so I click on that, and it seems to download OK, but it doesn't start (it says, "when prompted, drag icon into . . . " ), which never happens. When I go to the icon I have, it's not the new version. I can't find the new version in my downloads. I'm running OSX.6 Help! Thanks

- Download a new copy of the Firefox program
- Firefox 4.0: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
- Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
- Install the new version that you have downloaded
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.
This new installation will also switch you from the beta update channel to the release update channel, so you will now receive regular updates.
