Firefox and Windows and Plugins are all up to date. No Spyware or any other such issues. Firefox works fine and then either does not respond or crashes. If I have more that one window or tab of Firefox open at once that seems to cause the no response or crash. Firefox crashes or does not respond daily or at least every other day. Hardware acceleration is unchecked. Vista is my OS.

You can try to set the media.windows-media-foundation.enabled pref to false on the about:config page.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
