certificate from php.net is not trusted by Firefox, but is trusted by IE

When I go to https://php.net in Firefox, I get a "This Connection is Untrusted" error message. The technical details say "php.net uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided. (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)". But there is no problem connecting to https://php.net using IE or Chrome, and no problem if I go to other HTTPS sites using Firefox.

This page [1] says "you may have enabled SSL scanning in your security software such as ESET or BitDefender", but I don't have any of these software installed on my computer.

So could anyone tell me why Firefox tells me the certificate is not trusted? Thanks!

hello, unfortunately this is an issue caused by the website, which uses an intermediary certificate but doesn't properly implement a trusted path to the root certificate authority.

in order to work around that you'd have to manually install the missing certificate and trust it to verify websites in firefox: https://ssl-tools.net/certificates/a1e08f9a6a21691dc96bc3b9fa59a7cadd6d4cc4.pem
