Ok, I look in my add ons, it shows silverlight is installed and enabled. But when i go to start netflix in firefox 43.0, it keeps telling me that i need to install silverlight. What the heck? I've uninstalled and reinstalled twice for both programs. Still not working...

It worked fine on 42.0. I would like to just go back to that if I could. I had to reinstall firefox when i had to reformat my drives. everything else works fine.... just not netflix. but netflix works in chrome and IE.

now that I've used your little program, its not showing it there in the list below, but it still shows in my add ons manager.

silverlight version I am using is the 32 bit silverlight 5. It will not allow me to download the 64 bit of it.

Did you check if you have a Lego block icon at the left end of the location/address bar?

The Silverlight plugin is currently set as "Ask to Activate", so you would first have to enable the plugin or possibly set the SL plugin to always activate for Netflix via allow and remember.

I checked it that way.tried both ways. Just screenshot it with it ask to activate. No Lego, removed and reinstalled twice... It shows in the list, but when you post a question, the share info thing below didn't show it .see pics

The System Detail list shows the Silverlight plugin as 5.1.41105.0 with only the version number. You should be able to check that on the about:plugins page.

ok, so its the version number, here is a screenshot of that... so, its listing both, one only via version number. Its still not being seen when i use netflix.... So, what to do now?

Did you look for a Lego block icon at the left end of the location/address bar when you are on the Netflix page?

You can also try to click "Ask to Activate" and select "Always Activate" to see if that has effect.

I did look. its not there...no Lego like I said above.

This is what has me baffled. It showing the add on in the list, but its acting like its not recognized. As I said, I have tried it with both settings.... I have removed and installed silverlight twice and also firefox. Still same results. I am not sure whats going on, but I do know that from what i can see( add on being listed) working on other browsers, Netflix works fine in Chrome, and also in Internet explorer

Try to clear the cache and remove cookies from the Netflix website.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
