Firefox won't load ANY websites--even Google--because of an "Insecure Connection." And yes, I've deleted cert8.db and changed my avast settings.

hi Shrilaraune, your secure connections appear to be intercepted by an untrusted third-party program on your system. please uninstall any programs related to VertoAnalytics (SmartApp?) from your system control panel and run a scan with various other security tools like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner.

Thanks so much for getting back to me. That finally makes some sense. I installed smart app myself after vetting it though, so I trust it. Is there a way to make it a trusted application for firefox? I do need it (smart app) running on my computer more than I need Firefox (at this point) which I'm hoping to use exclusivly to help me in my language studies. Thanks in advance

I have also run Malwarebytes

you could try exporting the VertoAnalyticsCA certificate from the windows trust store into firefox, like jscher2000 described it here for another provider: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1068675#answer-745280
