How do I revert to manual updates - I want to leave the ESR update system.
I have downloaded 70.0.1 on my MacBook Pro, and on my iPhone. I have synced them. But no matter what I do, the only version of Firefox that stays on my laptop is 68 something, with the ESR update system.
The last time I downloaded 70.0.1, I anchored the icon to my toolbar. When I click on that, the download box appears again.
How do I get 70.0.1 to replace the ESR-linked 68 something on my computer? How do I remove myself from the ESR updates?
Thanks in advance!

Did you uninstall the Firefox 68 ESR version (i.e. drag to the Trash) to do a clean install of Firefox 70 ?
Also make sure you install Firefox 70 properly.

How do you completely turn off update checks in Firefox v64? You can use a policies.json file to disable updates for all users. https://github.com/mozilla/policy-templates/blob/master/README.md or https://winaero.com/blog/disable-updates-firefox-63-above/

Thanks, cor-el. That did the trick!
Thanks also, FredMcD, for responding...that was Greek to me, though!

The OP had nothing to do with asking how to stop Firefox from updating as the OP was about having trouble getting Firefox 70.0.1 installed perhaps due to not being installed properly on Mac OSX.
