i found that i could just get rid of history by deleting places.sqlite

NOTE: cleaning history makes MY FF hang, so dont suggest that

BUT

places.sqlite has my 1000000 bookmarks too but just before that backup bookmarks and restore them on clean places.sqlite file would make all ok? WRONG

So i need to

-1. kill FF

0. open FF

1. Backup bookmarks - makes 22 mb file (yep, millions of bookmarks)

2. Close FF

3. explore to C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\9eyyy2u7.default

4. delete places.sqlite

5. Start FF

Then just Restore Bookmarks right??

WRONG

6. On starting FF just after deleting places.sqlite makes all FF again using all CPU. WHY?

When you delete the places.sqlite files then Firefox will try to restore the bookmarks from the most recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder. If you have over a million bookmarks then this can take some time and you will have to continue the script until this has finished or you lose the bookmarks.

You can rename the bookmarkbackups folder to prevent Firefox from rebuilding the bookmarks that way and try to restore the HTML backup. You may have to edit this file and break it into several smaller parts to make this work (importing an HTML backup merges bookmarks).
