i recently imported a number of RSS feeds into thunderbird in half a dozen folders. i have succesfully unsubscribed from a few i no longer wanted. however, there are feeds that are not listed for me to be able to unsubscribe from. in one folder, there are 5 listed but about 15 sources appear in my feeds. how do i unsubcribe or make the ghost feeds reappear to delete. on linux mint 17.1 thx

So if you right-click one of those and choose Subscribe, you don't see it's source in Feed Subscriptions?

If so, then it sounds like that the Feeds section is messed up for you. Best to clean it out and start over.

1. Find & open your Thunderbird Profile folder:

Select Help: Troubleshooting Information from the Thunderbird menu (either from the menu button , on the top right, or the normal menu at the top of the window.)

Under "Application Basics", beside "Profile Folder", click the "Show Profile" button.  This will open a window showing the contents of your Thunderbird Profile folder.

2. Quit Thunderbird, but keep that window open showing your Thunderbird Profile folder.

3. In the Profile folder, find the folder called Mail, and open it.

4. In the Mail folder you will find one or more folders named Feeds. Delete them.

If you want to experiment instead, look at the contents of these Feeds folders in a plain text editor, and mess around with them.

Changes will show when you start Thunderbird again.
