Why won't Firefox launch in Windows 10? Have the same problem with Chrome as well. Only browser that works is Edge.

I've uninstalled, reinstalled, restarted, checked 64 bit system, changed default browser to Firefox, ran SCF, ran DISM, changed firewall permissions, reinstalled, etc... but nothing works. The only browser that will launch in my 64 bit windows 10 system is Edge. When I click the Firefox icon, I get the system busy icon for about 3 seconds and then nothing. I have noticed, staring at the task manager, that windows error report process starts, if I click the icon over an over again, but it still does not launch. I've also tried holding down the shift key and launching in order to reset Firefox, but the same thing happens... system busy for about 3 seconds and then nothing.

Some problems occur when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see
