Is this really 2018, almost 2019?
... and Mozilla can't figure out how to keep favicons from other browsers or between synced computers? This is absurd on its face. Mozilla would love for you to switch browsers, but beware if you do that EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. of your favicons will turn into a generic icon. The only fix is to visit all your links, as many at a time as the browser and your computer can handle, to get them back. And oh, having done this on one computer, prepare to do it all over again on another because THE FAVICONS DON'T SYNC with your version of Firefox on another computer.
What a total load of garbage, and I'm running Quantum with all updates on Windows 10 with all updates so that's not the issue.
Chrome, Edge, and other browsers keep these sync'd flawlessly and import favicons from other browsers flawlessly.
Fix this Mozilla!

Why is that a FF Browser problem it's not their favicons. If those favicons don't sync maybe you should ask them how come when sync they don't work. You can't blame FF if another companies icon don't sync they have not control over those favicons.
I appreciate the effort, but I don't think you understand how favicons are supposed to work. I now have an understanding that this has been a known bug for several versions of FF. My post and question is more a lament that it hasn't been solved in all of these years. It has nothing to do with 'another companies favicons.' The requested feature has been in other browsers for years and the technology to solve the problem isn't peculiar or owned in any way by one company vs. another.
Hi
Whilst Firefox Sync may not be able to carry across favicons between Firefox installations at the present time, this is something that may be included in a future release.
I am hopeing to write to staff on that team very soon and will mention this to them as a feature to consider in a future update.
Yes, the lack of Favicons being synchronized is frustrating, but recent versions of Firefox have changed how the Favicons are stored inside Firefox. A new separate file named favicons.sqlite was added to Firefox in Firefox 60 or 61; the next step is to include that file in the synchronization process. which is being worked on with other enhancements to Sync.
