Hi Steven, I have some follow-up questions. But first, to review Firefox's default behavior:

(A) if a link does not specify any alternate target, it opens in the same tab

(B) if a link specifies a new window as a target (target="_blank") then Firefox will divert the new window to a new tab

(C) if a link specifies a named window as a target (target="mywindow") then Firefox will open or re-use a named tab for that link

(D) if a link has a script handler that uses the window.open() function, it can bypass some of the default behaviors, for example, by setting window dimensions, it can bypass having the link diverted to a new tab

Now, on to your requests:

1. When I click a bookmark for example, or click on a link in Google I want a new tab to open AUTOMATICALLY (without keyboard). I do not want to have the link open in an unrelated existing opened tab

You will need an add-on to modify the target of the link. For example:

2. When I am on a website and I click on a link within the site, how do I make sure no new tab is opens up. If I am on ESPN for example and I click a link, I do not want that link to be opened in a a whole new tab. ?

You will need an add-on to modify the target of the link. Not sure whether the above one can force same-site links into the same tab.

3. Lastly, unlike many, I prefer my newest tab to stay first at the far LEFT, and not have newest tab continue sliding RIGHT.?

Could you describe this in more detail: do you mean, say, if you are in tab 3, open a link in a new tab to the left of

• tab 3 (open adjacent to current tab, but opposite side)
• tab 1 (open at the start of the bar each time)

I don't think either of those are built-in options, they probably require an add-on.

Note that for opening a bookmark there is a pref to always force a new tab opening.

For opening new tabs there are these two prefs:

• browser.tabs.insertAfterCurrent
• browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent

You normally would open a link in a new tab with a middle-click with the mouse wheel to override the current behavior on a web page.

Check the box in the Where results open section. This is stored in a cookie, so would need to be set again when Google cookies are cleared.

Thanks for answering my questions so promptly.

I am a bit old school. You may recall a long time ago, for example, I.E. browser had it so, when you click on a new website say from a search or from your bookmarks, a new tab would always open as the first tab at the far LEFT as the first open tab. If you repeat this, open a new site it replaces the first tab and stays left until you open another new website. All the older tabs that were on the left moves/slides to the right . So I whenever I start a new website, I do not want that tab to open far right. I want it open far left, opposite.

What is "targeted link" and the subject you were stating about "target..."

You can set each of these prefs to true to enable this feature or to false when you do not want to use this feature or double-click on the line to toggle a Boolean pref (true/false).

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.

Hi All to replied here-

Simple two question:

1. I want any new tab that is opened to open far left as the first tab. When I open another the link the old tab that is open to move right while the next new tab opens far left. I want all new tabs to open far left (what IE used to be years ago) and stay there and when the next tab is open the former tab moves right. I Do not want new tabs to be open the right (and old tabs to its left).

In other words, I want to have tabs opened doing the opposite what the basic Firefox default is now. I have attached a jpg photo of how I want new websites to automatically open (I moved the open tab far left manually as example as to what I want to happen with each new tab opening automatically).

2.When I open up a link/website, and I click on a link in the website that takes me to another website, a new tab is not open. all the websites often will remain in one tab...not a new tab. If I open ESPN for example and click around that's ok. But say I click on a say an unrelated link (or say an ad) in side ESPN no new tab is open. All these different sites remain in one tab.
