Since I refreshed Firefox 36.0.4, "Save page as" and "save image as" are not working (even in Safe mode)
I refreshed FF 36.0.4 on invite. Since then "save page as " and "save image as" are not working -- no response when clicked.
In Safe Mode, same problem.
I serached past forum discussions and found several occurrences, but no convincing response.

I tried troubleshooting plugins, none appeared to be causing the problem. I installed 36.0.1, but no difference. Went back to 36.0.4, still no change. I ran a malware check with Malwarebytes, no change. A past thread here suggested deleting localstore.rdf, which I tried, no result.
People have had this problem in the past. No one has any idea of how to fix it?
I've now upgraded to FF 37.0 Still no change.
Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
In Windows Safe Mode, both Save Page As and Save Image As work normally.
Back in Windows Normal Mode again, they don't work.
If it works in Windows Safe mode then you likely have a problem with other software, possibly security software or a system driver, on your computer. You can check possible advanced settings in your security software for Firefox. Also make sure that you have the latest updates of your security software and hardware drivers.
You can use the MSConfig program or the Autoruns utility to see which software and services are getting started, but be cautious with disabling services.
Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

I've now run the full list of anti-malware/spyware scans. That cleared out a fair amount of crud, though no real nasties (no rootkit according to TDSSKiller).
I've done some careful cleaning using Autoruns and What's Running? and checked my security software. Searching for driver updates is a problem, particularly since MS no longer supports XP.
I've gone through troubleshooting extensions and plugins for the second time.
The problem still remains.
I'd like to point out that it only concerns Firefox - context menu Save Page and Save Image work fine with IE8 and Safari.
Thanks, anyway, for the list of anti-mal/spyware software - just one demurrer, Kaspersky Free Security Scan did nothing useful, set itself up as resident and continued after uninstall with a hidden kss.exe (fake path, since Program Files/Kaspersky Lab/... does not exist on this computer, but it was running from startup according to What's Running?) and put up advertizing popups. Not recommended.
Yesterday, hours after Windows boot and with FF open all that time, the two commands miraculously returned. This is not attributable to anything I did, as I had given up trying.
Whatever caused the problem, it doesn't appear to have been malware or security ware, or outdated drivers. I'm glad FF is running properly again, but I wouldn't say the problem was "solved".
im having the same prob i can save images or pages without mozilla freezing and it does not work on safe mode for me! any help??
