page down does not work in pdf files in the browser,
in a multipage pdf hitting page down on page 1 goes to page 2, hitting it again goes to page 1 instead of page 3, The same link in other browsers works correctly. as does the pdf file if in presentation mode.

Hi jackever1, if I turn on caret browsing using the F7 key, then click in the document, Page Up and Page Down do not work normally at 100% zoom. If I reduce the zoom so that I can see the whole page, then it works as expected. I think caret browsing may not be compatible with the PDF viewer's layout techniques.
Have you tried turning off caret browsing? Either:
- the F7 key
- the Options page: "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced, on the General mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Always use the cursor keys to navigate within pages"

That's odd.
Which viewer are you using, the built-in PDF viewer (fewer features) or the Adobe Acrobat viewer (more features)?
Does it make any difference if you first click in the page before using Page Down?
I am using the built in preview, it works fine in external adobe reader AND MORE IMPORTANTLY works fine in other browsers.
if I click in and scroll to another page it cycles between the 2 pages close to where I click in. if I click in on 3 it cycles between 3 and 4. Page up works. if I mouse scroll or Use the scroll bars and click in
Hmm, I can't reproduce that. Does it affect all PDFs or only certain ones? If there is one that consistently gives you this problem, can you provide a link to it?
Here is one( but I have seen the problem on others) http://www.irf.com/product-info/datasheets/data/irf7341pbf.pdf#page=2&zoom=auto,-205,137
This one acts the opposite: Page down works but page up only goes between two pages:

Page Up and Page Down should move with an amount of the screen height, just like when you scroll a web page.
Doesn't it behaves like that for you?
It does work for me that way with the built-in PDF Viewer.
I think that I can replicate this when I switch on caret browsing.
You may have switched on caret browsing.
You can toggle caret browsing off/on by pressing F7 (Mac: fn + F7).
- Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Accessibility: [ ] "Always use the cursor keys to navigate within pages"
Note that this is an accessibility feature of Firefox.

Think about that question a bit... look back at my original post. If it had worked that way even, I would not have posted a problem, don't you think? You replied: "I think that I can replicate this when I switch on caret browsing" Did you replicate it?

Yep Caret browsing does it, But even with it on the up and down arrows do a page at a time with the top of the page set to top of window. Also with it on of the zoom is set to show a full page PageDown works Zoomed in, if you page down (doing widow height paging) it does not work, but if you click on the portion of the next page that shows, it will go to the next page, you have to click on the part of the next page each time. So there is some inconsistent behavior going on that needs to be fixe.( like page up working but page down not and vice versa in caret mode).
Let me know when fixed, but for now I have work-arounds. Thanks
our confirmation post crossed so we posted the same discovery.
