Firefox won't connect to bit.ly links on facebook - on this occasion https://bit.ly/2XmHLY1 these are genuine public service websites
Secure Connection Failed

Hmm, mystery unresolved. It's possible that your connection runs through a security filter, proxy, or other intermediary that was having a problem with Bitly. If the problem returns, that would be the next thing to investigate.

Hi margaret.parker, the SSL_ERROR_NO_CYPHER_OVERLAP message may indicate a server has overly restricted their options for secure connections. It also might indicate a Firefox configuration issue. Let's see whether we can sort it out.
First, are you saying your Firefox cannot connect to Bit.ly, or your Firefox won't load the real URL after the redirect from Bitly?
As an example, I made a Bitly link for a page on my website: https://bit.ly/2JTlXAb => https://www.userchrome.org/what-is-userchrome-css.html
Does that work on your Firefox?
No it doesn't, as soon as I click on your link I get the same message as before - I don't know which of your two possible scenarios this is? Secure Connection Failed

If you cannot connect to any Bitly links, could you check these settings:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful or accepting the risk.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste TLS and pause while the list is filtered
(3) If any of the preferences starting with security.tls are bolded and "modified", right-click > Reset to restore the default value
Any improvement with Bitly links?
(4) In the search box above the list, type or paste SSL. and pause while the list is filtered
(5) If any of the preferences starting with security.ssl. are bolded and "modified", right-click > Reset to restore the default value
Any improvement with Bitly links?
(6) In the search box above the list, type or paste SSL3 and pause while the list is filtered
(7) If any of the preferences starting with security.ssl3 are bolded and "modified", right-click > Reset to restore the default value
Any improvement with Bitly links?
I have followed all this but none of the preferences were bolded.
However the link I wanted has now opened for me, although I didn't do anything except go through the sorts you suggested. Thankyou for your help.
