Hello, I'm trying to configure my gmail account in thunderbird but I've enter in the oauth hell.

Here is the problem: when I put my email credentials, a screen opens for me to connect to my gmail account and give the permission to thunderbird to access my gmail account. Nothing new here. But, after insert my credentials and allow thunderbird access my account, the screen closes and I got a login and password error inside the email config screen.

When I try to give the permission, I got the same error... over and over again.

I'm using Linux Mint 19.2 Tina. Any idea how to solve this?

Google made some changes, so you MUST have the latest version of Thunderbird for oAuth to work.

Until Mint releases TB 60.9.1 or 68.2.1, you can apply the workaround that requires switching a pref. in Config. editor:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1592407#c22

Edit/Preferences/Advanced/General/Config. editor.

This should work for gmail IMAP accounts using OAuth2 authentication. Use the standard account password.
