My mother changed her gmail passwords. She uses thunderbird for email. How do you change the passwords so that thunderbird will work and get her messages again.

There doesn't even seem to be an entry blank in the accounts pages to enter a password.

WHY HAVE YOU MADE THIS SO DIFFICULT?

See Password Manager - Remember, delete and change passwords in Thunderbird It's NOT THAT HARD.

She is not using any password keeper and does not have any master password.

Well why doesn't the Thunderbird Email Account Setup page SAY THAT? Display name- yes, email address- yes, server address- yes, port numbers- yes, type of port- yes. Entry blank for new password- no.

Does this password keeper work with email accounts? Does it work when it has never been setup and the Thunderbird user and her son never herd of it before?

I don't use Thunderbird. She does. She's 80 years old and I try to help her the best I can and I come across BS like this, that completely frustrates us both. She asked me for help, I looked in the obvious places such as the email setup and accounts pages and there was nothing to indicate that Thunderbird password keeper use was required to keep using Thunderbird email. I searched for but couldn't find an answer to "change Thunderbird email passwords" and am forced to jump through a bunch of hoops just to ask a question. And since she is not using a password keeper program of any kind how are we to know any of this?

Why would I look for a setting in something that I didn't even know existed?

And for the record there were two problems neither of which is solved.

1. No entry for a new password in Thunderbird. 2.In ability to make account without access to Thunderbird.

They are similar but not the same and NO SPAM.

Read the article I linked to in my previous reply. It explains where Thunderbird stores passwords for accounts and how you can access and manage them. You won't be of any help to her if you aren't bothered to understand how Thunderbird works.
