names of web pages/sites do not appear on the tab label. the label says "Connecting..." and show the rotating green circle but the page loads OK.

This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Many thanks for your help. In safe mode all the tab labels & icons reappeared. I restarted in normal mode and all tabs were again properly labelled with icons; yet I made no changes.......
