Cleared all the history, but recent tabs & windows still remained in version 6.
Cleared all the history (selected everything except saved passwords), but recent tabs & windows still remained in firefox version 6 (Win XP 32-bit). No such problem when using version 4. Skipped version 5 and updated to version 6. A bug with the clear history function ??

You can only remove that last window if you restore that window and close all tabs in that window, so it is best to avoid closing a window that still have tabs opened.
Set the pref browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab to false on the about:config page to prevent closing the last tab from closing the browser and make a close button appear if only one tab is open.

You can (temporarily) set the pref browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo to 0 to clear the "Recently Closed Tabs" list. If you want to re-use the "Recently Closed Tabs" feature (Undo Closed Tabs) then you can reset the pref browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo to the default value via the right-click context menu.
cor-el, thanks for the temporarily solution. Managed to clear the recently tabs, but still had 1 recent window even after I set the value to 0. Hope the tech team can fix the problem permanently.
