I had made a complaint here on September 24 of Firefox 3.6 crashing all of a sudden especially visiting Yahoo email sites and clicking on Manage Addons. And the message I was getting on firefox.exe closing was: Error signatures

AppName: firefox.exe AppVer: 1.9.2.4262 ModName: msvcr90.dll ModVer: 9.0.30729.4148 Offset: 00059231

I got no reply or solution. I updated to version 6.0.2 but yet the problem continued. Today, I updated to version 7. However, the problem continues. I do not want to use Chrome version 14 that I have kept as backup and is a resource hogger on my 1GB RAM. I have Windows XP SP2 as my operating system running on AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3200+ 2.01GHz. I am using AVG Free 2012 Antivirus along with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malaware Free version that is updated to version 1.51.2.1300.

Do something pleeeeeeeeeease.

My registered (at your support) e-mail is gspalindia@yahoo.com.

Can I set and use FF 7 in safe mode for daily browsing and work and also make it my home page?

SOLVED! SOLVED!

By sheer fluke I solved my FireFox 7 problem of crashing when clicking on Manage Add-ons in Option Window and when visiting Yahoo Mail websites. Though I had the updated versions of AVG Free 2012 Antivirus, Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware version 1.51.2.1300, Abode Flash 10.3.183.10, Java Platform SE 6 U 27, Java Toolkit 6.0.270.7, Yahoo Application State Plugin 1.0.0.7, etc. my FF used to crash for above mentioned reasons. After much tinkering, tinkering, tinkering …….Frankly I really do not now remember what all I tinkered other than running FF in safe mode on and off, visiting a number of help sites, running FF update (though I installed FF 7 about a week back) via About Firefox in Help a few times, and running CCleaner 3.11 a number of times my above stated problems have resolved. I have all my Plugins enabled. I have my extensions of Java Quick Starter 1.0 and AVG Safe Search enabled. However, it still crashes when I click on Get Add-ons in Manage Add-ons. Should I care? I do not want any Add-ons and thereby keep my FF 3.7 at 33.33MB. Goodbye Resource Hogger Chrome 14 gobbling 107MB of my limited resources of 1GB RAM. However, I will keep it installed just in case. I keep my fingers crossed.

No thanks to Mozilla who could at least have an online system checker software to ascertain faults as they never answer posts. ALL THANKS TO MYSELF ONLY and a lot of time wasted. I never have and will not ever update (kept automatic update off) my Windows XP SP2 Professional version 2002. I never use IE6 that came with it except for adding to my favorites and then importing in FF and Chrome. I just do not have a fancy for bookmark section of FF or Chrome.

Sorry. In my post of Solved! Solved! it is not FF 3.7 at 33.33MB but FF 7 at 33.33MB

Strictly for Windows XP SP2 Professional
I installed:

  1. Adobe Shockwave for Director version 11.6.1.629
  2. Updated my npdsplay.dll (C:/Programs/Windows Media Player from version 3.0.2.628 to 3.0.2.629 by installing WindowsMedia-KB911564-x86-ENU.exe. Prior to it I installed WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe. I had these Microsoft stuff in my "stock".
  3. Updated Shockwave Flash to version 10.3 r183
  4. Updated Java Plug to version 1.6.0.27
  5. Updated Java Deployment Toolkit to version 6.0.270.7
  6. Yahoo Application State Plugin version 1.0.0.7

Did not install Quick Time.

I then update FireFox 7.0 to 7.0.1

Now there are no crashes while clicking at Manage Add-ons under Tools > Options nor on visiting Yahoo Mail or Yahoo News or Yahoo Search, etc. However, it still crashes if I click on "Get Add-ons" in Tools > Options > Manage Add-ons > Get Add-ons.

Again, yet FF 7.0.1 does not support "Submit Crash Reports" under Tools > Options > Advanced > General > System Defaults though supports "Submit Performance Data"

I continue to use AVG Free 2012 Antivirus and Malwarebytes'

Yahoo! I have again been able to make FF my default browser until bewildered by the next crash

Damn Mozilla for thinking that every user of their browser is an expert on systems. I am not. I am a simple medical transcriber working from home for whom it is a nightmare when systems collapse including softwares' incompatibility issues.
