Firefox 57 installs, but when I open it, it stalls in the background and doesn't display. Why?

After noticing that Firefox failed to migrate to version 57, I uninstalled manually version 56 and installed version 57 manually (but I didn't delete any folder or file via File Explorer). When I started Firefox 57, I could see the forefox icon in the task bar (I run Windows 10) and if I hover over the icon, I can see a mini-windows of Firefox - at one point, I even saw two - but that windows is nowhere to be found for real on the monitor, even if I minimize all the other windows one by one. It's as if Firefox is a background application: even task manager indicates it's running, but I cannot access it. Any idea about what prevents it from fully loading? I don't get any error message or anything else. Thanks.

Not suppose to be running 32 & 64 one or the other on 1 system or Can put in the Developers Edition which has a compatibility mode.

No..

Going back : unfortunately 56.0.2 is no longer safe to use for every day use do to security issues, but 52.5.0 ESR is. It will continue to get security updates until May 2018, and you can download and install it from this page: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/ Note : Legacy Extensions will be deleted or removed in any version update after May 2018.

You should make a backup of your Profile before going back and just because: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles

Please uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0 with a Full Version Installer https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

I tried uninstalling, cleaning the disk, etc., but after re-installing Firefox (both 32 and 64 bits) I get the same problem. The loading just doesn't finish to get Firefox out fo the background into the foreground where I could use it.

I re-installed version 56, which works just fine. Is there a way to prevent it from "upgrading" to the non-working 57? I clicked Never check for updates in Options, but it tries to update every few times I open it.

Thanks.

I uninstalled the old v56 and put version 52.5.0 ESR instead. It actually works better than 56. Too bad v57 wouldn't finish loading (by the way, I had tried 32 bits and 64 bits separately, not together, but got the same result with each). Too bad we'll lose that one in May. I guess I'll have to get used to another browser by then, unless there's a version 58 that works (we can always hope) Thanks for your help in any case.
