email remover was apparently removed in program updates. Downloaded new June 2018 tool, but it's a big mystery on where to look for it on T-Bird dashboard, and what to do with it once located. When I open the downloaded file, T-Bird creates an email!

Is this the add-on? Did you install the downloaded xpi according to these instructions?

There were NO other instructions on what to do with the xpi once it was downloaded. "Add-ons" was not helpful at all.

The filename is remove_duplicate_messages_alternate-0.3.17b1-tb.xpi which works with Thunderbird 31.0 - 60.*. (the other only works with Ver 5 to 32). I tried again, making sure it was downloaded to the C drive download directory. When I clicked on it, it opened a compose email GUI.

The URL https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/search/?q=remove_duplicate_messages&cat=1%2C0&appver=&platform= did not instruct the user on what to do once downloaded. When I opened the file from the lower left of the GUI window, it opened a "compose message" AGAIN!

Few who use T-Bird should be expected to know where to look. I appreciate you showing me but I certainly did not know about addons.thunderbird.net. Previous versions' instructions were much more transparent, and I was successful in loading and launching the duplicate removal tool. But for some reason it got stripped from this version 60 of T-Bird.
