Firefox v77 enlarging URL bar

In v76, I was able to stop the URL bar from enlarging by setting browser.urlbar.update1 to false in about:config. In v77, this enlarging URL bar behavior seems permanent. I find this behavior annoying and unnecessary for me. Actually, I think this is just plain dumb. The text does not enlarge, just the URL box. Is there a way that I may be able to disable this behavior, thank you.

The original solution was for Firefox 75. Due to changes in Firefox 77, the original solution is obsolete and there are new options.

Firefox supports an optional style sheet file named userChrome.css that we can use to modify the toolbar area, including taming the expanding address bar. Setting up your first userChrome.css file is about a 10 minute project, so when you have time to dive in, here are some threads to check out:

I tried this and it solves the problem.

Indeed, stop taking away the drop down arrow for most frequented list from the address bar. What is really better than clicking the arrow and choosing from the list? I'll give you a hint: nothing
