I'd like to set it so that I get system restore, but when I go into Tools, General, When Firefox Starts, the option Show my Windows and Tabs from Last Time is grey and can't be chosen - how can I select it, please?

Also, above and below the main central screen shows the desktop in the background of the tool/menu and address bar and the one at the bottom that shows the pages in use, clock etc. Does this have to be now or can it be changed?

Make sure that you not run Firefox in (permanent) Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history mode.

  • In Private Browsing mode some menu items and features are disabled and show as grayed choices.
  • You are in Private Browsing mode if you see "Tools > Stop Private Browsing", possibly grayed.
  • You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
  • To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history
  • Uncheck: [ ] "Permanent Private Browsing mode"
