What happenned to my saved usernames and passwords??
I've been using Firefox for 6 months or so without issue. One thing I loved about it is that it saves Auto-complete entries for many more websites than IE does. Suddenly, my auto-complete entries are gone and they don't come back. Also, every saved password except one that I haven't used in months disappeared. On one site in particular(so far) it won't even let me resave the password. Support says I can click on the lock(which appears on other pages) but there is NO lock on this page. To summarize: 1/ All but one saved password disappeared. 2/ Auto-complete no longer works on some websites, though it worked flawlessly up until a few days ago. 3/ On some websites I no longer have the option to save password, though they worked flawlessly up until a few days ago.

Have you cleared the History etc. or turned off the feature. Do these help
- Control whether Firefox automatically fills in forms
- Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox
If you are you using Private browsing such information may not be saved.

Thanks John99, but none of these apply. They are, however, useful to me. At this point, I'm thinking that there was an automatic upgrade of Firefox that caused this somehow. If it was only one site, I'd assume that the webmaster had altered the code for autocomplete. The three sites affected are two credit unions and a payroll company that allows people to view their paystubs online.
What I have always done is as I am creating a new account or password I let Firefox save the information. BUT.... I also write the same information in a file on my computer. Web address and / or site name, user name, And of course the password. Some sites also have additional security questions (where you went to school, got married, best friend, and so on) and I put that in as well. If you are on the go, using a public terminal, you can always print out this list if you want. If you are worried about someone else looking in your computer and seeing your list, you can also use a file compress program with password enabled. Just remember to Remember The Password!!
Do you still see any saved passwords in the Password Manager?
- Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"
If not and they were there previously then you may have a problem with the signons.sqlite and key3.db (encryption key) files that store the name and passwords.
You can also check for problems with preferences and rename or delete the prefs.js file and possible numbered prefs-##.js files and a possible user.js file to reset all prefs to the default value.
I'm on Ubuntu Linux 12.0.4; my Firefox is Version 23. I too am having this problem. I tried clearing the History, (completely), this did NOT help. ALL of my Saved Passwords are gone, and Auto Complete does NOT work.
When trying to resave these lost passwords and Auto Complete information; Firefox does NOT even ask if I want the information saved.
I don't go anywhere but SETI@Home and SETI Beta Websites, and my own e-Mail sites, and Ubuntu One... NO Banking is done on this machine, and I don't surf anywhere except the aforementioned... Please help!
Also, when using my Windows 7 machine, FF Ver 23.0.1, everything works fine.

Addendum: Today Linux Updater updated FF to Ver 24.0; however, no changes in my lost saved passwords... They still have NOT been restored.
