I run a joomla website. I use a plugin to display a PDF embedded in an article with GoogleDocs. I know it is formatted correctly and active as it used to work in FF before I updated and it continues to work in Safari. When I visit the webpage FF tells me I need a plug-in to view the content and yet the plug-in finder says there is none compatible. What is the solution? As a website developer I need to make sure all features are working and at this point most of my visitors are not going to get most of my content.

Please update to Firefox 24 and let me know if you still see the issue

Current Firefox versions have enabled a built-in PDF Viewer that doesn't have all features that other PDF readers like the Adobe Reader have or may not function properly otherwise.

You can change the action for Portable Document Format (PDF) in "Firefox > Preferences > Applications".

You can set the pdfjs.disabled pref to true on the about:config page to disable the build-in PDF viewer.

You can check the value of the plugin.disable_full_page_plugin_for_types pref on the about:config page and remove the application/pdf part if present or reset the pref to the default via the right-click context menu.
