how to remove search engines in firefox mobile 26
With the update to firefox 26, another bunch of search engines I will never used were added to my browser. In earlier versions a search engine could be disabled in the addons menu, but that doesn't work any more... Is there any way to remove twitter, bing,... in this version of firefox?

Currently no. We're looking into supporting the ability to disable or remove the default search engines in the future.
This is really poor = and as the OP mentions it used to be possible. I've promoted firefox to others since version 2 or so, uninstalled now.
Yes - this is an unacceptable loss of functionality IMO.
I also have an addon that allows me to select text and search for it. The context menu now has 5 search engines! (Google appears twice for some reason.)
I want Google and WikiPedia - only.
Honestly this is beyond absurd, and has led to an immediate uninstall of FF Mobile from my phone, never to go back on if I can help it.
It's unbelievably amateurish to dump a bunch of search engines on people while taking away their ability to actually manage them.
I also say this is totally unbelievable. Are you mozilla or microsoft? You are lagging in the competition with chrome and you still want to hurt the limited users. My search constantly lead me to useless search results by Baidu. This makes me regret my donation to mozilla. Uninstalled.
I would also like the option to manage the search providers, otherwise i will be forced to uninstall and switch back to Chrome. It's sad, really because Mozilla runs better on my phone, but, thats not enough reason to keep it if i am forced to have the search providers YOU decide. I will wait to see future updates, but then, i'm done with Firefox once and for all. I'll get it out of my life. Pc's, Phones, Tablets etc. I would love to see that issue fixed though. Thank you.
Firefox 29 will restore this feature. We can't move the feature up any sooner as it involves changing/creating text.
Thats good enough for me, i'll wait. Thank you for your quick response kbrosnan.
