Upgraded to version 29.0.1 from Version 28 (which worked a treat).

Now I find that when I click on the "x" on the website Firefiox does not close down properply (unlike version 28).

Firefox appears to have disappeared, but still hangs about in the background.

When I click on the Firefox icon again I get a "firefox is already running error".

I've tried all the usual suggestions i.e. re-installing, using CTRL-W instead, standing in a bucket of sand, etc.

Bottom line is that the latest version sucks. Sorry guys.

Make sure Firefox isn't set to clear history automatically upon closing. Go to the new menu (3 horizontal bar icon at the very far right) → Tools → Privacy| Set it to Firefox will: [Remember History]

Hi Moses,

Many thanks for your response. It's much appreciated.

I can confirm that your above suggestion appears to work ok.

However, as I use a SHARED computer I don't want Firefox to remember my browsing history when I exit. That's why I ticked that box in the first place.

Therefore I don't see it as a proper solution, but thank you.

Best regards,

Pete

You can run Firefox in Private Browsing mode to prevent storing data on the hard drive.
