After automatic update by Kaspersky software I can't do anything as I always land at the message requiring restart to complete instalation
Hi, Recently Kaspersky Total Security software automatically installed Thunderbird update without asking permission. After that Thunderbird's icon has changed into a system one instead of bird icon. When I clicked this icon an installer window pops up saying that restart is required to finish the installation. So I did. And landed in the very same place where I've started. I tried to restore previous version, uninstall Thunderbird, install Thunderbird, but as soon as other program tried to do something the above pop up window appeared and situation repeats. It's an endless loop. Situation is critical as I have no access to contacts, calendar, e-mails. Nothing. I would greatly appreciate any help that will help to revive Thunderbird or at last get access to information that were stored there. Best regards, Paweł

pretty simple. disable the problem causing software and then reinstall Thunderbird.
If in doubt the problem software is kaspersky in this instance. It is clearly suffering from some form of confusion.
It's not simple at all. It seems that the source of problem is Windows Installer service not working properly in this case, and blocking Thunderbird. I need a piece of advice how to solve the problem and regain acess to my data.
It is clear to me the root of your problem is Kaspersky. Everything worked until it assisted in breaking something.
My guess is you have a restricted user account on your computer and Kaspersky has initiated a process requiring administrator privileges.
I suggest you ask kaspersky how you fix the mess it created. Or ask Microsoft how to reset their installer to a level field from it's infinite loop.
My suggestion is uninstall Kaspersky. Log into your computer and uininstall Thunderbird. Download a new Thunderbird version from getthunderbird.com and install it.
Does that work?
I have administrator account on my computer. I tried to reinstall Thunderbird and it changes nothing. Kaspersky's support suggested to contact MS as it's their service causing problem. Unfortunately I have to wait until Monday to contact MS support. BTW: Do you know how to get access to the data that were gathered by Thunderbird (export them to some other tool)? Regards
