Why does sync not maintain and populate my bookmark folder structure?
I've just set up a new laptop and tried to sync all my bookmarks' (rather complex) sub-folder structure to the new machine, but sync strips out all the bookmarks and simply lumps them together above the then empty list of sub-folders. With several hundred specific bookmarks and several dozen folders in the structure, this creates a nightmare to sort out.
Have I missed a trick here perhaps, or is that the norm?
Thanks

Hi
Do you still have your bookmarks saved in Firefox on your other device?
Hello,
Yes; I have, but not with the files in the right folders ... something strange is going on now. I am actually using the bookmarks from one machine and will separately sync the history from a third (now redundant) one as well. I have just had to rebuild the structure in my first machine, because the old one dumped all its old rubbish into my new machine on syncing. I then turned bookmarks sync off on all three (having backed up what I wanted to keep), but somehow on closing and reopening bookmarks again on my main m/c, they have all been stripped out of the file structure all over again, along with all items on the bookmarks toolbar as well - which is incredibly annoying.
I have thus restored my back-up json file, but this also has its folders stripped out ... but what is most odd is that on opening the backed-up file, the toolbar bookmarks initially appear under the relevant folder in Library, but after approx 5 seconds they suddenly disappear in very rapid succession as they too are stripped out into the mass of other bookmarks!
